Local History Tour

On a bright and dry morning in October, Ms Mc Namara's 5th and 6th were accompanied by Mr Madigan on a local history tour of Cappagh. During the day we learned about a variety of historical facts rooted in the locality. We began our tour in Kennedy's stud farm and throughout our adventure we visited locations such as Ballinvirick House, the Oratory at Kilbeha, Nantenan Church, St. James' Well, Altavilla House, Newbridge Mill, The Stoney Man, Embury and Heck Church, Ballingrane Railway Station, St. James' Church, RIC Barracks and Cappagh Community Hall. We finished up our day in nearby Cappagh House. The day was hugely enjoyable and educational.

Autumn Wellie Walks

Children from Juniors, Seniors, First and Second classes went on our autumn wellie walks recently to Curragh Chase. While there, we went for a stroll around the lake, explored the woods, collected autumn leaves and learned about the history of the big house. As always, we really enjoyed our day out.

Fyffes Fit Squad

The Fyffes Fit Squad visited our school and put Ms Sheehan's and Ms Walsh's classes through their paces with a fitness session. We did different exercises to work-out our upper and lower bodies. We had lots of fun and learned about stretching our muscles and how to nourish our bodies. Thanks to Eamonn and Tom.

iPads in Rang 5 & 6

Rang 5 and Rang 6 are enjoying using iPads in class. So far, we have used them to research homelessness in Ireland and we have learned more about the various countries taking part in the Rugby World Cup.

Girls Football Blitz

Our girls’ team took part in the 7 a-side Division 2 Gaelic Football blitz in Rathkeale on October 7th. They won two out of their four matches. Well done girls and well done Ms Rocca!

Dogs Trust

Donal from Dogs Trust visited our school to teach us about how to look after our dogs and what to do if we find a stray dog. It was great to hear some stories about the dogs that Dogs trust have taken under their wing and have re-homed with new families.

Rugby World Cup

3rd class enjoyed using iPads to research and learn about the different countries that are playing in the Rugby World Cup.

Noah's pets came to visit

Noah (along with his Mom and Dad) brought his pet guinea pigs and Flemish giant rabbits to school to show everybody. We held the guinea pigs and learned about how to take care of them. Thanks Noah, Liam and Marie.
